Time pass/Time waste

I really don’t understand how can anyone watch these serials.Serials like choti bahu,Pratigya,Pavitra rishtey and many more.I agree people who are retired and want to pass their time by watching these serials. These serials producers are minting money. In some telugu channels a question is asked after the end of each episode and they will send one pattu (silk) saree for each winner chosen in a draw.I just hate to watch these serials.

The most common things i have noticed are :-

All the females wear cheap designer sarees/outfits

All wear high heels in the house

All the married females wear those black beeds chains

There is always a vamp who wants to spoil the relationship between a newly married couples.

All the actors go to sleep with their shirts tucked in.

All the stories revolve around the same plot.

There is always a granny in all the serials who holds the beads and does jap.

Most of the families live in palatial houses.

There is always a bahu (d-law) who is snubbed.

Each scene has a different back ground music.  And this back ground music makes people run to the TV not to miss the scene.

Most of the actors and actress participate in reality shows.

I don’t know how much these serials reflect the society…..

PS:- This post was there in my drafts since long. Uma post made me to post this.

When i was stopped by a policemen…

Since last few months chain snatching has become quite common in my area. Each and every lane has billboards telling people to be careful and cover their necks etc….

One day i was going to pinks school to drop her.One policemen stopped me and in harsh voice asked me why i wearing so much gold.I was not sure if he is a policemen or not.So i said i saw the billboards. He replied that just under the billboard a women’s 4 tolas of gold has been snatched. He said you go home and keep the gold in the house. To that i said i have to drop my daughter i will go home later and he was still standing i left from there. This happened at 9.00 in the morning.I never thought of asking him his ID card.

Then at 1.00 pm when i was going to pick pinks the same policemen met me at the same place and asked me inspite of him telling me why i am still wearing the gold.I was shocked.Infact i removed all the gold except my mangalsutra. The only difference was i covered by neck with my dupata.Inspite of covering he saw my neck.Same like before i left and he was still standing there.

I was too sacred, called my mother to be with us.She came and stayed with us for few days.

My house is quite close to police station and everyday i pass from there. From that day onwards i was searching for the same policemen who spoke to me just to confirm that he is a genuine police. After a month or so i found the same guy in police uniform in front of the police station. After seeing him i could get proper sleep.I have been thinking that maybe the policeman in is disguise and has been following me.

Since gold has touched Rs.28,000/- for one tola,it has become an easy money for the thieves. In the past few months there has been many chain snatches in my area.So most of the women have opted for imitation jewellery. It so happened that a thief snatched a chain from a women only to realise that it is imitation not gold.He waited for the next day and threw the chain on her and abused her.

How much ever one is smart there will be a person smarter than him/her.Here the thief thought he is smarter and women found other ways…

There is no escape…….

The lok pal bill mostly targets the politicians and government servants. What about the bribe one has to pay to get the basic things. To get gas connection one has to bribe the auto driver who delivers the gas to the house. My friend paid Rs.8000/- for a connection which would have cost him Rs.6000 if he had gone in a queue (this is in the private sector) and he would have got the connection in 3 months times.

Daughter was not well and was visiting the pediatrician  almost everyday and everyday his attendant was charging Rs.100/- when I asked her she says it is compulsory to pay everyday Rs.100/- for doctor consultation.I am sure no doctor will charge Rs.100 from the patient everyday. The rule what doctors here follow is the patient pays Rs.150 to doctor and can go to doctor for a week without paying. It made me sick when she asked me money when I was in hurry to take my daughter to get admitted in the hospital.Luckily the children hospital where I admitted her was not that commercial compared to what we see in the corporate hospital.

Here in summer we used to get power cuts for 2 hours everyday. But if you have a function at home just pay the line men some amount that day entire area won’t have power cut.We used to pray for some functions/parties in my area.

Because of summer we are having water shortages. We have to book for a water tank and it is delivered on the first come first serve basis but if we bribe the driver Rs.100/- he gets it immediately after the booking.

To replace a gas cylinder we have to call and book it.Then they give a time of 15 days to get a full cylinder. The cylinder is given within 10 days to the auto driver but he sells it to the hotels at a Rs.800 when the cost of one cylinder is Rs.350.00.

Once a traffic police caught us and asked us to show the papers, the person who was driving the car showed him all the papers which were required and the policemen was quite upset on seeing all the correct papers. He was desperate to catch us and he asked us to show the insurance document. And the renewal of the vehicle insurance was due that month end and there was enough time for the renewal. But policemen started arguing and asking questions why we didn’t renew it.The thing is he wanted some money from us and we were not ready to pay him.

Most of the traffic signals has cameras to monitor the traffic as well as the policemen who take bribes. But our police personnel are quite smart they go into the bylanes to catch people and take bribe from them.

Even temple priest are bribed so that he utters our name when doing pujas.

Today The Times of India has an article on corruption in rural areas.Rural households paid Rs.470 cr bribe for basic services.

“Rural people pay Rs.1-2 get a family member examined as an out-patient,mostly to get the OPD cards and Rs.900/- to avail diagnostic services such as X-ray,blood or urine tests at a government hospital”.

“To get an application form for ration card one has to pay Rs.5/-.”

“”Rs.700-800 to get scholarship or admission in schools.”

Check here for the rest of the article

The thing I wanted to say is for survival one can’t escape bribing the corrupt people,he can be government servant or non government. There is no end……

Think before coming to City of Pearls

Dear Visitor to my city

Maybe i am rude to say that before coming to city of pearls ie Hyderabad (also known as cyberabad) think. If you have close friends, relative or acquaintance who will take you around the city in their own transport then you come and have a good time here. But if you don’t know anyone here you will be taken for ride by our beloved auto rickshaw walas.

They don’t charge you for the meter cause they hardly use the meter. They hate to use the meter which is tampered,if you don’t agree for the amount they ask you to pay,you have to talk to 10-15 autos.Even after getting an auto who uses the meter you end up paying 3 times more than the actual fare.

Now latest it that they have gone for a bandh (which has become so common to force the govt to accept their demands) for a hike in the minimum fare from Rs.12/- to Rs.14/-.Government agreed to their demands. Now when ever you agree to go by auto using the tampered meter then the auto walla will remove a card and checks the amount of the fare and you have to pay more than Rs.20-30 more than the actual tampered auto fare.

Don’t say no one has told you about the auto wallas of hyderabad.Any one from Hyderabad will echo the same.

Still if  you have decided to come to hyd, wait till the Sri Krishna Committee report on separate telangana state which will be submitted any time before 31st december. If it is for separate telangana or unified Andhra Pradesh there will be chaos in the city.If at all you have planned to come before 31st december 2010 then also you will find the city in big chaos as opposition party leader and ex-cm of Andhra Mr.Chandrababu Naidu is fasting unto death to meet his demands for increasing ex-gratia to the farmers. It is 7 days now and he is refusing to eat and govt is refusing to accept his demands and if something goes wrong then can’t predict what will happen in the state.

Otherwise you are welcome to the Hyderabad. It is a wonderful place to live.

All the best for your plans and regards

Telugu Homemaker 🙂

PS:-Lifted the idea of writing a letter from deeps without her permission.

Edited to add:- Mr.Chandra babu naidu was forced to stop his fast and he is back home now. 😀

I don’t want rains…..

Human life has no value here. Each time it rains one or two lives are lost.Either it is a kid or a teenager or a elder person. The open drains swallows them and our greater Hyderabad municipality just does the search for the body and hand it overs and washes its hands.A person near my house was coming on his cycle and due to flooding of the road he didn’t see the open drain and his cycle got struck in that and within 2-3 minutes he was washed away and found dead after one day.

Roads are dug to lay cables and this is done mostly during monsoon. The private contractors who does the work of laying cables just do the laying part and their job is not to fill the holes. When it rains those holes are filled by water and they become a death trap.

Who takes the responsibility for these deaths,it’s the municipality or the dead person.People should stop walking or riding on the roads when it rains.Even after the rains few all the main roads are flooded with water and municipality doesn’t tries to flush the water out.

Dear god we had enough rains for this year, please we don’t want rains again as such it rained heavily day before yesterday and before for 2-3 hours.

Please talk to me

She  stares at the entrance of her room all the day to see someone, who talks to her,who hugs her.But retires to the bed in a hope that tomorrow someone will come, will talk to her and will take her from there. She is not alone in that room, there are many eyes glued to the entrance. The moment someone comes at the entrance, all try to get up from their bed calling the visitor to talk to them.

In this fast life we don’t have few minutes to spend with them.

They are ones who taught us our first walk and we don’t have time to hold there hand and help them take a few steps.

They are the ones who taught us our first words and we don’t have time to say few words to them.

They are the ones who fed us our choice of food,we when spitted the food given to us which we disliked and now we left them to others to feed them and they don’t have their choice of food.

They are the ones in their life time never repented of giving birth to us and we don’t repent of sending them to the old age homes.

They inspite of living in the old age homes pray for us.

They are not called home inspite of having a wedding at home, for fear of their death which leads to postpone of the marriage. The son and daughter-in-law are concerned for their daughter not for their mother and mother-in-law.

Inspite of earning well their kids fight for the contribution to be spent on their medical and old age home bills.

They are the ones who gave us  their name, their fame, their time, their money, their whole life are left in destitute because of us.

They are the ones who used to shed tears when we were sick and they took off from the office to look after us and now we don’t have time for them.

They celebrated our birthday’s and we don’t remember their birthdays.

What they want?? They don’t want our money and materialistic pleasure. They just want our love and few minutes of our valuable time.

We have time to take our kids out as we think kids should have fun,we have time to eat at a restaurant,we have time to watch our fav tv serial/program etc………… but we don’t have time to speak few words to them.

A recent survey shows  increase of old age homes in india, Hyderabad alone has 140 old age homes.Where are we heading ? We don’t know that what we did to our parents will happen to us.Maybe a day will come when parents think of not having a child as they are old age homes to take care of them.

I agree that few old age homes give good geriatric treatment but apart from the treatment they want love and someone to say few words to them.

Husband visited old age home when he went to india, there was a women who tried to give money to husband to buy a shirt similar to what hubby was wearing for her son.Her son is a stinking rich guy who doesn’t have time for his mother and rarely visits her.

My mom met her distant relative at a old age home and the relative said these words to mom– “I don’t have any income and i can do my work myself, you are getting pension no,please keep me with you”.

Break the silence

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. This is just a small contribution from me to spread the awareness of domestic violence.

Yesterday my neighbour rang my bell and before i would reach the door she ranged it twice, when i opened the door she came running into the house and closed the door and there was a panic in her face.On being asked what happened she said her husband came from the office and she doesn’t want to face him.My daughter is not at home, she went to grocery store. Then i said so,then she said you don’t know my husband he shouts a lot and he doesn’t like my daughter to go out on her own.Her daughter is  16 years old.If he thinks going to a grocery is a forbidden thing he can tell her why he doesn’t want her to go in a soft voice, why to shout at them.

Her husband is out of the house from morning 6.00 to evening 8.00 and he expects his wife to do everything like paying the bills, grocery etc and he shouts on her if the daughter goes to the grocery store to her help mom. This lady is educated and she is working and earns on par with her husband. But she is scared of her husband.Fear is in place of  love and trust. Why should she fear him? Why the kids should be scared of their father? He is a decent man, wishes you when ever he sees you, calls your kids and plays with them. What is wrong with him? Ok he comes home after a days long work and from long traffic jams,so he will vent his frustation and anger on his wife and kids.A women also does that? have anyone of you heard about a frustrated women venting her anger on her husband and kids ??

More than the physical abuse it is the mental abuse which goes unnoticed.Words don’t break bones they break hearts.

A close friend of mine has left her marriage after suffering for 4 long years, she says i suffered 4 years and will suffer for long because even after leaving the marriage my past taunts me.For this her parents brought her into this world, gave her education and married her to a decent family after making a good enquire about the family and house where their daughter will live forever.

She is mainly abused by her in-laws and husband is a mute spectator. For this he took seven vows to protect her.She is blamed for everything. When her m-law was sick she was blamed that she didn’t took good care of  her.Something happened in the house, her m-law said the day you put foot in our house we are runied. For this  her m-law selected this girl to be her son’s wife? She was blamed of not having kids inspite of she showing them reports that there is no problem with her and husband never went for a test. And this guy is very well-educated and has a good career but he didn’t allow her to work inspite of being educated on par with him.Leaving marriage was a good option for her as she has got a good support from the parents. It is more than one year she left the house but still she is not able to come out of that.Time heels but why should she suffer for no fault of hers ?

silence-hides-violence

Don’t bear in silence, silence kills.Help yourself and help others. When you see such violence don’t be a silent spectator, ring their bell for atleast the violence stops for sometime.Bell bajo is campaign, asking you the common man to bring domestic violence to a halt.
